Former HSBC data boss joins WCKD RZR as CTO

HSBC’s former global data analytics boss Jon Farina has been appointed as Chief Technology Officer at the ground-breaking ‘Data Enablement’ software company, WCKD RZR.
The pioneering start-up’s software eradicates a myriad of international data privacy, management and cost issues for multi-national businesses, and recently raised USD$1.2m (GPB£920,000) from angel investors. WCKD RZR was founded by HSBC’s former Chief Administration Officer, Chuck Teixeira and is already making significant waves in the data technology sector. The appointment of Jon Farina brings the former HSBC colleagues back together, where Farina will help to drive growth and sales at the London-based company.

Start-up WCKD RZR raises $1.2m to tackle Data Enablement
London-based ‘data enablement’ start-up WCKD RZR has raised $1.2m in pre-seed funding. The company has a mission to ‘Unlock the potential of the worlds data’, and help multi-national businesses tackle the problems caused by conflicting data governance policies and authorisation controls.
The company was founded in 2020 by CEO Chuck Teixeira who was previously the Chief Administrative Officer and Head of Transformation for Global Banking and Markets at HSBC where he led the development of a large data & analytics environment. Prior to HSBC, Chuck has held several executive roles at UBS, Barclays and Nomura.

More than a decade ago, a friend of Chuck Teixeira’s took him to a famous psychic in New York on a night out. “I was kind of sceptical” he tells The Stack: “But I had this conversation with the psychic and they said, ‘one day you’re going to run a technology company, you’re going to be involved in technology’. I said ‘there’s no chance – I’m a banker. Never, never, never, never, never!’ And then 10 years later, here we are…”

WCKD RZR, a new startup positioned at eradicating the myriad of international data privacy, management and cost issues for multi-national businesses, has scored $1.2m from angel investors.
With this capital, the RegTech company is eyeing staff hires.
WCKD RZR was founded by former HSBC chief administration officer Chuck Teixeira. The idea for the company came after Teixeira noticed there was no automation tool that let a multi-national bank leverage machine learning to catalogue cloud-based data, while ensuring all regulatory requirements and access controls were met.
